Our Mission
Iscte-Knowledge and Innovation is a Technology Transfer and Valorization Centre based on the combination of two of Iscte's reference research areas - social and human sciences and digital technologies - with the aim of providing integrated knowledge transfer solutions for society, organizations, companies and public administration. Based on the potential already demonstrated in terms of knowledge transfer by Iscte's research units and laboratories, recognized by the large number of companies and institutions already involved and the very relevant mass of European and international projects and networks in which the value of these research units is recognized, Iscte-Conhecimento e Inovação, through the new stage of collaborative organization that it will develop, will imply a new stage of knowledge transfer, particularly through a focus on interaction between social sciences and technologies, whose presence in the National Scientific and Technological System is admittedly weak. The Centre's aim is to help make the country and the region in which it operates a European benchmark in the strategic technological areas in which ISCTE operates, encouraging the development of emerging sectors and the incorporation of general-purpose technologies in traditional sectors, in order to diversify and improve the competitiveness of the business fabric. The Centre must act on the basis of a commitment to collaboration and coordination with the other players in order to optimize the existing capacities in the territory and, together, form a comprehensive scientific-technological offer of excellence that drives the evolution of the economy, increasing its added value.
